About Statuses
Personal Taxprep provides you with statuses (including the return status and the EFILE status), which allow you to keep track of where the returns are currently at in the processing stage.
Statuses, when inserted in the filter or the diagnostic settings, can be used in the Client Manager or in the diagnostic pane to create and generate returnclient file follow-up reports.
Client file statuses can be listed in the Client Manager by displaying the properties pane or in an active return by displaying its properties.
The return status allows you to stay informed about which processing stage a return is currently at, from rolling forward to printing the return.
The return status can be manually or automatically assigned as a result of certain operations. For example, you can set Personal Taxprep to automatically update the return status after printing the return.
The return status has no effect on the operations performed using of the file and does not limit them in any way. For example, a return with the "Printed" status can be reprinted at any time.
The return status can have a predefined value or a customized value. Here is a table that shows the different predefined values:

When this value is assigned, it means that … |

There are two types of print statuses:

T1 Print |

TP1 Print |

This table shows the various possible values of print statuses:

---|---|
None |

Printed (Office) |
The return has been printed with the Print Tax Returns command. |
The EFILE status of a return or a form indicates where the return or the form is at in the transmission stage and allows Personal Taxprep to filter the returns or forms that can be transmitted.
The EFILE status is different from the return status. Therefore, it is possible that the status of a return is "In Progress" and the EFILE status is "Eligible."
The EFILE status is automatically allocated by Personal Taxprep following certain operations. Noe that you can also manually modify the EFILE status.
This table shows the different possible values of EFILE statuses:
Value |
When this value is assigned, it means that … |
---|---|
Not applicable |
The return or the form has not been selected for data transmission. |
Not eligible |
Based on information in the return, the return or the form does not meet the eligibility criteria. |
Eligible |
Based on information in the return, the return or the form meets the electronic filing eligibility criteria. This status does not indicate that the return or the form preparation process has been completed. |
Accepted |
The tax authorities have accepted the transmitted return or form and will begin processing it. If this is a return, an acknowledgement of receipt has been received. If this is a return, a confirmation number has been received. |
Accepted with condition (Authorization EFILE status only) |
The tax authorities have accepted the AUTHORIZATION form that has been transmitted, but a condition has been issued. To begin processing the AUTHORIZATION, the condition must be complied with. A confirmation number has been received. |
Rejected |
The tax authorities have rejected the return or the form that has been transmitted. Based on the error codes transmitted by the tax authorities, you must correct the situation in order to retransmit . |
Each supporting document has its own EFILE status. This status allows you to keep track of the supporting documents transmitted and of those that were added after a transmission of supporting documents transmission.
You can consult the EFILE status of an attached document in the Attached files properties dialog box.
